Botany Town Centre: Adopt a Dog drive

Botany Town Centre recently held an ‘Adopt a Dog’ drive.

The centre teamed up with DC Rescue Dogs—an organisation that rescues dogs from local pounds—who brought along around 20 dogs including a handful of puppies needing homes.

Visitors were able to hold and cuddle the dogs and interact with them prior to deciding to put their names down to adopt a particular dog. The centre team added in a few activities for the kids including face painting, balloon twisting and a ‘decorate your own dog treat jar’ activity.

The event came about as a result of the very strong themes emerging from Botany’s 2015 research which showed the centre operates in the heart of a community of animal lovers and in particular dog lovers. Taking this insight, the team began investigating the opportunities available to create a meaningful and engaging community event. Based on the success of this event the team will be running it again later in the year.
